'Be Awesome, Go Big'
To support our Year 6 students transition to Year 7, we will are using the 'Be Awesome, Go Big' package. There are two sections below; one for parents and one for students. The resources are based on bestselling children’s books You Are Awesome by Matthew Syed and Go Big: The secondary school survival guide by Matthew Burton.
We hope that you will find these resources useful and supportive and would encourage the students to spend some time over the summer going through them. We are asking that all our transitioning students complete the 'Be Awesome, Go Big' workbook over the summer and bring it with them to school, on their first day in September. The workbook will be posted home to you but you are also able to download it via the Student section of this page. We can't wait to see your completed books!
BE AWESOME, GO BIG - TRANSITION RESOURCES FOR PARENTS
These resources provide information, tips and questions to help you open up discussion with your child about the transition and help prepare them for starting secondary school.
The final link takes you to a 'Be Awesome, Go Big' Activity sheet that we hope you will enjoy working through with your child. Although remember this part is for fun so please don't feel obliged to sit down and rigorously do it all! Dip in and out as you have time to. We do ask, however, that all students complete the workbook, available to download via the Students section of this page although a paper copy will also be posted home. Completed workbooks should be brought to school on the first day of term.
