27/05/2026This term, our fantastic Year 9 students have been diving into the world of illustration. They started by studying and recreating old favourites from artists like Quentin Blake and Beatrix Potter, before using those skills to bring their very own characters to life!
The creative journey doesn't stop here. Next term, they will step into the shoes of illustrators as they create a professional publisher's layout for their own books. We can't wait to see their final stories come together!

25/05/2026We are delighted to share that one of our Year 9 students is a winner of the Royal Academy Young Artist Summer Show 👏
Out of 25,000 entries, she is one of the outstanding 350 winners - well done AH.
22/05/2026As our incredible Year 11's complete the 20th GCSE exam, we would like to wish them a well-deserved break (still with plenty of revision) over half term.
We couldn't be prouder of your focus and determination over the last 2 weeks 👏
21/05/2026Last week, the incredibly popular Henna Club held its first competition.
Mrs Salim prepared laminated hand templates, some pre-designed and some blank stencils, and provided the students with henna cones to use; the resulting designs were simply stunning. 🤩

20/05/2026Inspired by The Butterfly Project @HMHou and the poem The Butterfly by Pavel Friedman, our year 9 students have again created beautiful memorials for children who died during the Holocaust. @HMD_UK
This is an RE research project and students visited the library to learn how to research and find the information they needed to create their memorial.

19/05/2026Year 8 students recently visited Southall Gurdwara. They were incredibly respect, curious and asked lots of insightful questions to our guides.
Many ate food in the Langar (Sikh free food kitchen), returning for seconds, thirds and sometimes even fourths!
19/05/2026WMAT Book Award Voting Day
Our Year 9 and 10 book award judges recently joined students from across the trust at Weydon School to discuss a shortlist of six brilliant books and vote for their favourite.
This year’s winner was Traumaland by Josh Silver.
A brilliant celebration of reading and student voice!

Eduthing will be hosting a family-focused online session about the importance of making reading a habit at home - just scan the QR code to register.
Please do attend this online session if you can - it promises to be full of ideas and suggestions to support reading at home and build lasting reading habits, including ideas to help motivate reluctant readers.
Let's all GO ALL IN!
Please contact Simone Pope or our Librarian, Elspeth Ewing, if you have any queries about the National Year of Reading or how we support reading at Woolmer Hill.
