Community Governor since 2024
Having lived in Farnham for over 25 years, I have seen my two daughters through Weydon School (in the Weydon MAT), where I served as a parent and community Governor for ten years.
My enthusiasm for excellence in state education results from a state school background in Nottingham, followed by a free university education (Lancaster). I have seen how this can open up social mobility for the 93% of children educated in the state sector.
With a special interest in the post-16 opportunities for young people, and in particular, opportunities for underprivileged and disadvantaged students, including apprenticeships, I aim to provide support and challenge to the Senior Leadership Team and to play a role in helping the school deliver for its students.
My career as a Company Secretary and corporate governance professional has involved me in working for several listed companies in the power generation, automotive, business services, logistics, travel, and recruitment sectors, and in one public interest body.
In my current role in the recruitment and skills sector, I am involved in all aspects of corporate governance and compliance, relating to audit, remuneration, annual reporting, ESG matters, strategic planning, board performance, and in engaging with external advisers and regulators.
A foodie, history and design nerd, Francophile, pro-European, I am passionate about wildlife, the countryside, the environment and in raising climate change awareness.
