22/10/2025Book of the Week: Unspoken by @Kwamealexander
Our final choice for Black History Month is the poem Unspoken by Kwame Alexander, brought vividly to life through @DareCoulter stunning illustrations. This poetic tribute celebrates the strength, resilience, and legacy of Black Americans, weaving together past and present in a way that speaks to readers of all ages.
Coulter’s artwork doesn’t just complement Alexander’s words — it creates a visual experience that’s as moving as the message itself. Whether you're exploring history, identity, or the power of storytelling, Unspoken is a must-read.
Available now in the library — come check it out and let its message inspire you.

21/10/2025Back in July, our then Year 7, 8 & 9 students took part in one of the craziest challenges to come out of DT yet!
Following @jamieoliver online, we took part in the largest cookery lesson (multiple venues) and are now the proud owners of a Guinness World Record title! 💪
The students were amazing on the day and we genuinely have some incredible pasta chefs in our midst!

21/10/2025Last week our Community Choir had the pleasure of visiting the residents of Chestnut View Care Home.
A total of 14 of our wonderful musicians delivered a range of songs, piano pieces, and instrumental classics to a delighted audience.
This is one of our students' favourite community outings and it's easy to see why when we witness the residents' joyful reactions.

20/10/2025Last week, our Year 10 Art students took part in a lino print workshop with talented artist, Sophie Brogden. Sophie's work is currently on display at RHS Wisley and this year her work has also been displayed alongside Andy Warhol at the Lightbox Gallery!
The morning began with learning to mono print with leaves, refining their prints into lino prints in the afternoon. Students were wowed by the outcomes and rightly proud of their work. These projects will go towards their NEA work and next term will form part of the inspiration for their ceramic projects.
Well done to all our Year 10 artists for their creativity and focus 💪
