19/03/2018Snowy scenes here this morning, thank you to the staff who helped clear areas of the site to ensure pupils could move around safely.
As temperatures are due to drop again later we advise that pupils wear sensible footwear with good grip again tomorrow, rather than normal school shoes.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning at the normal time!
Roads conditions are still not good, due to snow on top of ice, but traffic is moving slowly. In light of this we will delay the start of the school day this morning.
We will open school at 11:30am to pupils this morning. School coaches will pick up pupils 3 hours later than normal.
We understand this may cause some inconvenience but this will allow us to make the site safe and will allow the road conditions to improve as the morning goes on.
Pupils should wear sensible outdoor footwear with a good grip and warm outdoor clothing for the journey to school (uniform still required).
18/03/2018There are currently lots of reports of very poor driving conditions in the Hindhead/Haslemere area. We intend to be open tomorrow morning (Monday) but will assess the situation first thing and if necessary post any updates by 7.30am Monday.
13/03/2018Year 7 were perfecting their skills and getting creative with monster fruit salads today ....
4/03/2018We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 5th March - school will be open as normal.
1/03/2018Due to the poor weather and school closure the FOWH Quiz night scheduled for Friday 2nd March has been postponed.
Watch this space for further details.
School will remain closed all day tomorrow Friday 2nd March.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding, this is never an easy decision to make; however it is very clear that given the snowfall that has already happened and the bitterly cold temperatures predicted overnight, tomorrow the school site and access roads are going to be incredibly dangerous and icy.
We need to consider the safety of everyone on site and the safety of pupils, parents and staff if they were to travel to and from school. Some staff also have a considerable journey and live in very badly affected areas.
Work has been set on Insight for pupils to complete and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 5th!
School will be closed all day on Thursday 1st March.
Due to changes in the forecast and poor road conditions we are closing today for the safety of pupils and staff.
Work has been set on Insight for pupils to complete.
28/02/2018We intend to be open as normal tomorrow morning (Thursday 1st March), as the latest forecast indicates light snow during the morning. However, the forecast looks like conditions will deteriorate during the afternoon and into the evening.
We have therefore reluctantly taken the decision to close the school at 12:15pm tomorrow (Thursday 1st March).
School coaches will be informed and will pick up at 12.15pm. Please make arrangements for your child to be collected at 12.15pm or for them to make their own way home as normal.
If anything changes overnight we will inform you via the usual methods first thing in the morning, likewise if anything changes during tomorrow morning.
We hope to be open again on Friday but we will make a final decision about that on Thursday afternoon.
These decisions are always difficult as we weigh up the disruption to pupils’ education against the uncertain danger posed by the weather. On this occasion, we feel that the risks pupils and staff may face travelling after 3pm tomorrow outweigh the impact on pupils’ learning.
