13/10/2023Celebrating positive mental wellbeing has brought a ray of sunshine to our school today! Much needed on this rainy day! We've enjoyed so many great "mindful & cheerful" activities this week, including sensory rooms, glitter jars, origami and our amazing Mrs Dann made thoughtful bags of positivity for students who may be feeling stressed or blue. We were awash with yellow and so proud that we have raised over £1100 for YoungMinds. Thank you for all your support! ☀🌼☀
There is still time to donate and if you would like to the link to our Just Giving page is below.

9/10/2023This week we are celebrating Wellbeing Week! Our Welfare team have been hard at work creating an amazing programme of wellbeing activities for students to get involved in throughout the week. There will be opportunities to make glitter pods, worry dolls and jars of positivity, places to go to enjoy mindful colouring or card games, teachers to pop in and see for a "cuppa and chat" and of course, the Welfare team will be holding drop in sessions.
We will be ending the week with a cake sale and "Hello Yellow" Mufti Day. On Friday 13th October students (and staff!) are invited to come to school in home clothes, with the inclusion of that all important something yellow, in exchange for a donation to Young Minds; a well known charity supporting wellbeing and mental health in young people. Please give generously!

The cake sale will be held in the hall at lunchtime, students should bring in some spare change to buy sweet treats, the proceeds will go towards the school's mental health resources. If you would like to donate some cakes to be sold, please get students to bring them down to Welfare on Friday morning.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to the school being full of sunshine yellow on Friday! 🌼☀️🍋

6/10/2023Blood Brothers, Life of Pi, We Will Rock You....Woolmer Hill School bringing the right kind of drama into our students' lives!
Last week Year 11 Drama students spent a fantastic day with Stage-ed, exploring key scenes from their GCSE set text; Blood Brothers, alongside actors who have been in the show for many years. The work they produced was excellent and the workshop leaders were thoroughly impressed with their skills, attitude and behaviour. Such an amazing experience!
Watching a live performance is a vital part of Key Stage 4 curriculum learning and to support this our GCSE Drama students enjoyed a night at the theatre seeing Life of Pi this week. The puppetry was a real spectacle as were the special effects to immerse us in the world of Pi, a female actor took on the lead role and she was outstanding! All the students were entranced by the performance and thoroughly enjoyed the show.
And on top of that rehearsals for our school production of "We Will Rock You" have started this week as well! The show will be performed over three nights in the latter part of the Spring Term and with a cast and crew of over 100 students, lots of set design, costumes, props, music and lighting it promises to be a real spectacular! We can't wait!
Thank you to our fabulous Drama Department for providing such great enrichment opportunities for our students.
